Bobby Garland is one of the fishing world legends.

Garland was a well-known and very respected bass angler who designed many innovative lures, including the Gitzit and Spider Grub. Garland sold his bass fishing company in the late '90s but still had a itch to make lures of some kind so he bought back the business and launched his soft plastic crappie soft baits in 2001.

He died in 2006 at the age of 67, but left behind a fishing legacy that is rare - he is known both as a fisherman and, more importantly, an incredibly brilliant lure designer. After his death, Gene Larew acquired the Bobby Garland brand in 2007 and intends to keep the crappie-specific line up.
